4 weeks out….

1 05 2011

What a strange week……………i ll start back on Thursday,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

i woke up at 4:30 AM, and did a quick tredmill run…got to the kitchen to finish my mis en place for an important luncheon……the lunch went 30 minutes early which is always fun………finished up, everyone happy and rushed to the airport hoping to get out early…no such luck.  In fact my next flight got delayed because a hungover dingbat drama queen fiegned some sort of illness and caused a 45 minute commotion which ended up with Air Marshalls etc……landed TO and got home at 9 pm…a bit of paper work and in bed…up at 430 Friday, ran a hard 12 on tredmill then my foot doctor.  Straight to the kitchen to assist in a high end Hors Doeuvre party, a meeting with a client whom we are preparing some food service videos for and then home for a 44 km run.  Shower and finished packing and airport…………..missed my wife by 15 minutes who was coming in from Van City.  Got an upgrade so slept on the plane…was asleep by the end of the runway.  Landed 1 hour late and was ushered through security and onto my connection…luggage?  doubting it…..yup landed Belgium and no luggage….bummer………..hotel, a bite to eat and a visit with a chef buddy of mine………….in bed early….unfortunately and fortunately my luggae arrived at 11 pm and they decided to wake me although id instructed differantly………so now i cant sleep.  finally fall asleep at 4 AM.  Up at 7 and a 23 km in the park.  In the kitchen to get groceries organized and start Mis en Place for 3000 portions of seafood.  Out to the park by the Belgium antenae ( pictured above) and ran an easy 46.41 km………….pleaded with my foot for 10 km.  screamed at it for 20 km, disowned it at 30 km and ignored it.  It fell off at 40 and i had to go back looking for it.  My god the pain!…oh well..finished with a run up the 250 stairs to the top of the antenae….Reading Marshall Ulriches book “Running on Empty” seemed to help put it all in perspective for me.   “yes my foot hurts but at least i have a foot, and i can run”……  Back to the hotel…i apologize for those who had to sit by me in the crowded subway…i know…i smell really bad!

Ice foot…dinner…now its bed time.

One thing about the foot issue is i have reduced scheduled mileage by 20% and my legs are so strong and rested im sure i could run the hundred today!……………….now the puzzle, how to keep this level of fitness for 4 more weeks and do the least damage to the sore hoof!

Tomorrow i start my busy week which will consist of 3 back to back 12 to 14 hour shifts in the kitchen and on the trade show floor.  This wont help my foot issue a bit.   My coach is adiment i attempt to do the following schedule but im dubious……of course i ll give it a go, because thats who i am………………………here it is.
